WORLD AIDS DAY 2019
Save the Dream Initiative joined the rest of the International community to mark this year’s world AIDS day celebrationof December 2019. The event which started at 10am with a 1hour AIDS Walk and ended by 5pm was attended by over seventy (70) participants, a total of 20 HCT was conducted and 2 new reactive cases were discovered. The aim of the event was to raise awareness on the plight of HRM living with HIV/AIDS and also discuss with the community members on how to tackle the issues bothering on and around stigma and discrimination especially factors inhabiting knowing ones status and accessing healthcare. The theme of this year celebration was taken from the UNAIDS 2030 theme of ‘Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic. To pass on the information to the participants, a carefully thought-out agenda was developed. The activities conducted include: address on the significant of the celebration to the community, talks on basic facts of HIV/AIDS especially on the risk level of different sexual activities, window period and condom messaging, Talk show on the effect of discrimination on people living with HIV and ways to address them, Fashion show, Condom and lubricant demonstration which was conducted by a representative from various organization who used entertaining means to pass the information.
